8 Foods With a Surprisingly Short Life, Even in the Refrigerator

Berries - Strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries are prone to mold and can spoil within a few days, even in the fridge. It's best to eat them quickly or consider freezing them for longer storage.

Sliced Deli Meats - Once the package is opened, deli meats can start to spoil within three to five days. Keep an eye on them and use quickly for sandwiches or salads.

Leafy Greens - Spinach, lettuce, and other leafy greens can wilt and spoil quickly, often within a week, even when stored in the crisper drawer. Keeping them dry and in airtight containers can help extend their life slightly.

Avocados - Once ripe, avocados can go from perfect to overripe in a blink, lasting only a couple of days in the fridge. It's best to monitor their ripeness and consume them when they're just right.

Cooked Rice and Pasta - These can harbor bacteria if left too long and should ideally be eaten within three to four days of cooking. Ensure they're stored properly in airtight containers to maximize freshness.

Soft Cheeses - Cheeses like brie, goat cheese, and ricotta have a higher moisture content, making them susceptible to spoiling faster than hard cheeses. They typically last about one week in the fridge after opening.

Fish - Fresh fish should be cooked within one to two days of purchase to ensure it's at its freshest. The smell and texture will noticeably change when it starts to go bad.

Eggs - While eggs do have a relatively longer fridge life compared to other items on this list, they should ideally be used within three weeks of purchase.
